Our Classroom Behavior Plan
This year we will be implementing Logical Consequences from Love & Logic in our classroom for behavior management. Logical Consequences are a respectful, relevant, and realistic system for managing classroom behavior. I believe this system is an excellent tool in managing behaviors, preventing misbehaviors, and promoting self-regulation. Here is how it works:
Our Classroom’s Approach to Behavior Management
•I (teacher) will treat you (student) with respect so that you know how to treat me.
•Feel free to do what you need to do as long as it does not cause a problem for anyone.
•If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it.
•If you cannot solve the problem, or choose not to, I will do something.
•What I do depends on the special person and the special situation.
•If you feel something is unfair, whisper to me, “I am not sure that is fair,” and we will talk.
Because logical consequences require much self-regulation, we will spend the first few weeks of school teaching the process, rehearsing it, and reinforcing it. If your child’s behavior requires an individual consequence, I will note that in your child’s daily folder. In that folder I will also note days when your child exhibits exceptional behavior! Some days there will be no notes. Do not be alarmed by this! It simply means your child exhibited expected behaviors and overall had a good day. Please know, I will always be in contact with you if there is a problem.
