Classroom Rules
Our classroom will follow Cornelius Elementary’s Big Three – Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be an Active Learner. During the first week of school, we will collaboratively create a short list of rules for our classroom that go along with the Big Three.
Homework
I am a firm believer that playing, reading, and enjoying family time is the best work a child can do after a long day of school. Because of this, I only require 15 minutes of nightly reading for homework, which can be logged using the Reading Log in your child’s daily folder and turned in on Fridays. Any other work that I send home is not required; it can just serve as extra practice for your child if desired.
Daily Folder
Your child will bring home a daily folder which will contain a reading log, extra practice sheets, and a behavior calendar (where notes will be made about behavior only if necessary). Please check this folder daily and send any notes or money back to school in this folder. **Transportation changes must be sent as a written note in the daily folder.
Snack
Students may bring one small, healthful snack for our afternoon snack time. Do not send snacks that require utensils. Please note that this is a working snack, and the snacks should be easy to open and eat. Additionally, the only drink allowed in our classroom is water!
Lunch
Our lunch time is 11:20-11:50am daily. Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child after Labor Day and should meet us at the cafeteria door after signing in at the office. Parents may sit with only their child at the parent tables in the cafeteria.
Classroom Support
There is always something to be done in the classroom and parent support is greatly appreciated. If there are any days you desire to come into our classroom and help, please let me know. We would love to have you! We also have an Amazon Classroom Wishlist with supplies that would benefit our class.

Contact
I believe frequent and clear communication between parents and teachers plays a vital role in your child’s education. I hope that you will feel free to contact me throughout the year with any questions or comments you may have. The best way to reach me is by email (listed below) Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00pm. To keep you updated on what is going on in our classroom, I will send home weekly updates which will include important information for the coming weeks of school and what we are learning.
