Can you believe next week is October? Time is flying by, and we have had a great, full week in First Grade! The students are really looking forward to Power Time this afternoon. Thanks to those who were able to come out last night for Curriculum Night. It was great to spend some time with you and go over what is happening in our classroom! Notes & Reminders:
Next Week’s Learning Snapshot: Reader’s Workshop: We will begin our new unit on retelling! Students will be able to retell the key details in a story and identify the central message.

Good morning, parents!
The past two weeks have been a whirlwind! Despite the many days off, we were able to get lots of beginning assessments and work finished. Your children have been working very hard! Thank you for all the supplies, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes! They are getting lots of use. Reminders:
Next Week’s Learning Snapshot Reader’s Workshop: We will continue our unit on asking and answering questions, specifically restating the question in our answers. Math Workshop: We will conclude our first unit on place value and begin our short, tracking data unit. We have lots of engaging workshop games this week for data tracking! Writer’s Workshop: We will continue our unit on narrative writing, specifically using characters and dialogue in our writing. Integrated Studies: We will begin our study of conflict resolution. It has been a great first week of first grade! We have enjoyed getting to know each other, learning procedures, and beginning to dig into content. The students have done a particularly excellent job in Writer’s Workshop! They have written about their first day and many exciting things they did over the summer. :) At the end of each week, I will send out a newsletter similar to this one via email, and will post it on our website –www.mrscurtisk12.weebly.com. The purpose of this newsletter is to update you on things happening in our classroom, upcoming dates, and our specials rotation for the following week.
