Can you believe January ends next week? Time flies in first grade when you're having fun! We have had a great week and have finished almost all of our middle of the year assessments. Yay! Notes & Reminders: - Report Cards come home Friday, Feb. 1. Please look over these and sign and return the card stock. You may keep the paper copy. If I have any major concerns, I will contact you this week before report cards go home. - The PTO Daughter Dance is Saturday, Feb. 2. - Remember, Thursday folders come home on Thursdays. Please take out all work and keep at home. Next Week's Learning Reader's Workshop: We will continue our unit on asking questions to determine the meaning of words and phrases. This has been a challenging concept for many students! Math Workshop: We will wrap up our unit on subtracting with tens and ones and begin our unit on measurement. Writer's Workshop: We will begin our unit on All About Writing. We will do this by creating a class All About Book before the students begin their own in the coming weeks. Integrated Studies: We will begin studying how communities change over time, specifically looking at past/present/future. Good morning!
I hope you have all stayed safe and enjoyed two days off from school. This past week we enjoyed the very exciting Cougar Dash Kick Off! We began exploring magnets, which was lots of fun. I will post pictures soon to our Shutterfly site. We were also gifted 60 new books thanks to the generous donors from Donors Choose! Yay! Notes & Reminders:

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind! Despite the many days off, we were able to get lots of beginning assessments and work finished. Your children have been working very hard! Thank you for all the supplies, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes! They are getting lots of use. Reminders:

It has been a great first week of first grade! We have enjoyed getting to know each other, learning procedures, and beginning to dig into content. The students have done a particularly excellent job in Writer’s Workshop! They have written about their first day and many exciting things they did over the summer. :) At the end of each week, I will send out a newsletter similar to this one via email, and will post it on our website –www.mrscurtisk12.weebly.com. The purpose of this newsletter is to update you on things happening in our classroom, upcoming dates, and our specials rotation for the following week.
